A True Story of God's power and graceThis book is a true story of God's power and grace. Its triumphant story is liberating for every person, especially those who do need to forgive the unforgivable - because ultimately the choice of forgiveness is before us all. Kitty, her mom and siblings experienced terrifying abuse at the hands of her father. Born into an environment of violence, she suffered daily the pain that comes from the ravages of rage and resentment. After her father almost murdered her mother, Kitty Chappell felt she could never forgive him. Not even after she became a Christian. When someone asked her, "Have you forgiven your father?" she was furious. For months she was agitated with gut-wrenching anger and bitterness until she realized that she needed to forgive her father. The problem was, she didn't want to. Desperate, she asked God to force her to forgive her father. "But God didn’t answer that prayer," Kitty relates. "He was waiting for me to willingly obey his command to forgive others." Eventually she understood that God was waiting for her to choose to forgive her father, despite all of her emotions. When she finally did forgive him, God poured unbelievable blessings upon her which empowered her to experience true freedom from her horrible bondage. Because she obeyed God, Kitty emerged not as just a mere survivor, but as a victorious overcomer. I Can Forgive If I Want To, Forgiving the Unforgivable was first published and released by New Hope Publishers in July, 2003 under the title of Sins of a Father, Forgiving the Unforgivable. This book has been updated and will be reprinted and released under its new title and cover by the award-winning international publisher, Vocatio Publishing House. Piotr Waclawik, President and CEO of Vocatio Publishing House, met the award-winning author Kitty Chappell at a social function at the home of mutual friends, Doug and Sandy Ross. After learning from Doug, former ECPA president, that Kitty's book had recently gone out of print, Piotr quizzed her about its contents. Kitty relates how she thought he was just being polite - and maybe he was initially. She recalls, however, that when she began describing the theme of her book as one of overcoming through forgiveness Piotr's face suddenly lit up like a Christmas tree. He exclaimed animatedly, "Forgiveness! That is the most requested topic by all Christians in the European and Communist countries! They are begging for anything in print that deals with the subject of forgiveness." He asked for a copy of Kitty's book and the rest is history. A contract was signed. The book was updated and a new title and cover designed. I Can Forgive If I Want To has been translated into Polish and is ready to go to print. It will be released in the near future simultaneously in Polish and English. A contract was recently signed with Denmark, leading to a future release in the Danish language. Vocatio has also been approached regarding a contract with China. Only God knows how far-reaching the freeing message of this book will travel. He obviously intends for as many people as possible to learn how to not only survive their circumstances, but to also overcome them. And what better place than in parts of the world where obstacles seem almost insurmountable? |
